Wanna discuss photography over Cha & Biscoot ?

Join us in this fun filled ADDA session, where you can exchange your views with our honoured guest Salil Biswas and get inspired by his wisdom.

Salil Biswas, taught in schools and colleges for more than 40 years. Retired in 2007.

Did not own a camera till late 1970s. Real first camera yashika 645. Then graduated to an Asahi Pentax spotmatic ii and assorted lenses. Then came a Pentax K1000. Then Nikon d80 and now a D90, with 18-200 Nikkor and 11-16 Tokina. Apart from point-and-shoots.

Always considered himself a mediocre photographer. Little passion. Busy with teaching and writing and assorted work that prevented serious photography. Interested in history of photography. And looking at the Greats from ground level.

First exhibition shared with a friend Anish Basu at Birla Academy in 1985-86. Two / three  group shows at different venues. First Solo at Boi-Chitra gallery in 2011 on the Jorasanko Thakurbari. Same year invited by Thakurbari Museum to show his jorasanko series during 22 Sraban celebrations for 15 days.

Now engaged in teaching primary level school children from Purulia, Bankura, Burdwan, Birbhum etc. And photographing them for fun.

Lots of negatives and slides gathering dust and deteriorating.

This event offers a kaleidoscopic view of his work and an opportunity for us to see the world through his view finder.
