Acknowledged as one of the most veteran photo journalist of the good old city of joy, Mr. Shyamal Chakravorty has acquired much more than what can be put up in theory, through his practical experience. Mr. Chakravorty an accredited photojournalist by Govt. of West Bengal, acquired masters degree from Calcutta University in Journalism, but according to him, photography cannot be confined within the walls of mere pen and paper. It is much more about the reality of what goes around and a vision which gives one a peek through the various realms of life. He states that the world is a spectrum of illusions and a photographer is the one who captures every perception defining it. People see the world with their somatic eyes, while Mr. Chakravorty cherishes the panoramic view of the colours of life with his third eye, his lens. He says that sleeping with his camera beside his bed gives him the opportunity to capture every jiffy happening in front of the eyes and thus states News photography to be a 24 hours job.

In the year 2000 he had been awarded Gold Medal in Indian Press Photography. His experience of 32 years includes working of thirteen years for Ananda bazar Patrika (Apr. 1990 Feb.2001).As a freelancer he has worked in the genre of Table Top & Fashion Photography for various Ad Agencies & Corporate Houses (2001-2004).
